Chapped Lips tips

Chapped Lips is one of my biggest pet peeves. Yes, even more than open mouth chewers!  When my lips are chapped I go batty, this is probably why at Bloomiss we have so many lip hydration and moisturizing options. :-)

As the seasons change and the weather gets cooler and colder, our lips start getting dry and chapped.

Here are a few tips to keep them healthy during any season.

1. Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!!

Our lips tend to hold on to dead skin cells, which block any moisturizing agents we put on to help our lips. Exfoliating your lips with a good lip scrub gently removes dead skin from the lips, and leaves them with a soft and smooth surface.

DIY Lip Scrub

Here's an quick and easy DIY scrub that works like magic. Mix a little coconut oil with some white sugar and gently rub onto your lips.

2. Drink your fluids!

When our body is dehydrated, it starts pulling all the moisture from our skin. Our body will begin to absorb the moisture from our lips to keep the rest of the body hydrated. So make sure you drink water and herbal teas!

4. STOP licking, picking, and biting your lips!

This message is not just for kids! Ladies, stop licking your lips, we all do it! Saliva evaporates easily, which essentially makes the lip surface feel drier than it initially was. Also avoid picking at you dead skin cells as this can slow down the lip healing process!

Don't bite or lip your lips

It's a hard habit to break. As soon as you catch yourself apply lip balm to soothe them.

3. Lip Balm

Put on your lip balm to keep those lips moisturized. Use lip balms that won't irritate your lips that have beeswax, and avoid things like mint or cinnamon when they are extremely chapped. When you head out in the sun, regardless if you are swimming or skiing make sure you use a lip balm with a natural SPF to protect them. We may know a few lip balms that will help! Wink Wink!
